It looks like DM's only have the ability to "reroll" dungeons but they can be done on the spot in a Real Time game. There seems to be some question in the forums if all dungeons are prefab, custom or randomized.

I could see these lasting multiple sessions. Here is another twitch video from last week of a medium size dungeon in DM mode and it's pretty massive.I wonder what ability they will have to save between sessions. This seems to more like a dungeon keeper type game for DM's. NWN was designed to let the DM be a tabletop DM. It's like they designed it in anticipation of people complaining about DM's trolling players rather than being cooperative. Also, I'm not sure why the DM need the wisp light for player to know when the DM is around. This thread seems to suggest there is built in chat. I wonder if they are expecting players to use voice chat. That may be by design if this is more action oriented. One thing I notice is that lack of any chat feature. I'd rather simply seem some kind of "threat meter" based off of the part's level so a DM might know when they have placed too much. DM's should be able to add as much as they want when they want. I hope there is a way to turn off DM threat all together as a mechanic. It seems to be designed as a way to prevent the DM from overwhelming the players but if it is a cooperative game I'm not sure what the point is. One thing I'm not sure is needed is the idea of DM threat from the second video. They didn't show it, but they mention early on the ability to possess NPCs which I would assume means speech.įrom the video's it seems that a DM could set up a variety of blank spaces and DM in complete real time. This seems to be the direct control you were looking for. The second video shows the DM modifying encounters, placing traps, adding enemies and possessing the boss all on the fly. Just finished watching both videos, I think you may be underestimating the complexity of the DM engine. I'm not exactly sure how in depth Legends DM mode would actually be but NWN was as close to a table top as a CPG ever got.Īt the very least, with all of the various towns built for Legends there is no reason why a DM couldn't completely run their own stories. It allowed for actual role playing as the PC's would talk with the DM through the game.Īrsian Lazybones was one of the most respected members of the community who would design campaigns and DM them weekly just as you would in tabletop. The DM mode allowed the DM to create new enemies on the fly and possess any NPC they had created to cast, fight, and even speak through them. You had a really amazing community that modded everything from new classes to even Star War themed modded campaigns. But rather designing, building and running real time campaigns.
